We are really excited to share preliminary figures of the new cohort of students admitted to EIT Digital Master School at Politecnico di Milano for 2019/20, reflecting improvements on diversity and inclusion.
We are eager to build an inclusive environment open to diversity through the contamination among diverse groups of students, since diverse teams can come up with more innovative and creative ideas. That’s why we aim at building a strong and supportive community, making this programme unique in the ICT field.
For September intake, 24 admitted students, 6 different countries of origin and different experiences in computer science and engineering. But the most significant highlight is that the number of women rose year over year from 5% to 33% (up to 44% if we look at Human-Computer Interaction & Design major).
Encouraging numbers and positive momentum, though there is still a long road ahead of us to promote gender equality and diversity. We must play our part in raising awareness against gender-based stereotypes. Moreover, we need to remove barriers and create truly equal opportunities for attracting a more diverse pool of talent irrespective of gender, gender identity and sexual orientation, religion, ethnic and cultural background, country of origin, (dis)ability, and socio-economic status.
We definitely need diversity to promote innovation and excellence in ICT!
