For the EIT Digital Kick-off 2021 we decided to bring the online networking activity into a face-to-face event for our entry students at Polimi, with a blend of online and on-site interaction.
This way, our 30 Polimi students had the chance to interact at the same time with each other in class and with the other 300 EIT Digital students around the world, being truly ubiquitous despite distances, and taking advantage of the best ingredients of both settings.
Engaging in such a blended environment they could meet, work in distributed teams, share thoughts, exchange information, and expand their personal network, meeting new friends and confronting in this extended classroom at European level.
Using this approach, community participation and social interaction blurred the boundaries of digital and physical activity spaces.
The aim was indeed enhancing the sense of community and togetherness while removing the sense of physical distance and isolation that may arise in front of a screen. This is the ground on which we are going to build new cross-university and distributed students activities among our education network!
